Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Shikha Talsania and Swara Bhaskar have etched some exceptionally relatable memories of a girl squad in Veere Di Wedding. And now, if the industry grapevine is to be believed, producers Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor are planning to reunite for a sequel to the film.
Veere Di Wedding, which was being touted as India’s first commercial entertainer based on female friendship, was received well by the audiences and critics and also earned good numbers at the box office!
And now a certain report in Mid-Day has reported, “The first film did well at the Box Office. Discussions about a sequel have been on for a while, and the makers wanted to take the story forward from where part one ended. The second installment will explore how the girls’ relationships evolve.”
The source has further told the daily, “Once the script is locked, they will be approached for their dates. The makers plan to roll by mid-2020.”
The film, that was directed by Shashanka Ghosh was deemed as the Indian take on Sex and The City. Veere Di Wedding was a sweet film made from a woman’s perspective and challenged the existing social notions towards women that put them in an inferior position than men.
Veere Di Wedding released on the 1st of June 2018. Meanwhile, Kareena will next be seen alongside Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanj and Kiara Advani in Raj Mehta’s Good Newwz.
